Parliamentary Opinion Writing Exercise
Purpose:
- To practice and to discuss the one skill parliamentarians are not taught at the unit level or at any parliamentary conference;
- To share and discuss one's parliamentary opinion writing sample;
- To practice parliamentary opinion writing based on several established NAP standard formats.
- One hour lesson conducted by one advanced unit (Sigma Rho Pi);
- followed by lunch;
- followed by a second one hour lesson conducted by the second advanced unit (Nu Rho Pi).
- February 12, 2011; Lessons from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

- Every attendee needs to write 3 Parliamentary Opinions before the joined meeting.
- Read the 3 parliamentary situations for the 3 Parliamentary Opinions.
- Each Parliamentary Opinion must follow a different NAP opinion writing accepted standard.

- Bring a copy of each of your Parliamentary Opinions for each attendee (12-15 copies per opinion).
- Or, email your written opinions to parliam@roberts-rules.com by February the 10th, and I will make the copies for you.
- Controlling Committees
- How does an assembly control its committees?
- How does an assembly get its committees to do what they should?
- The lesson will include motions related to committees, discussions of the problems, and possible solutions.
